Here's a funny, perceptive and incisive story of one woman's journey dating "spiritual" types called "Zen boyfriends" by Mariana Caplan, Ph.D. psychotherapist. Sound at all familiar? It would be interesting to get our female members involved in a discussion as feedback for us male zen types focused on our enlightenment.

And here's another one by her called "Ten spiritually transmitted diseases." In this recent article (6/15/10) she admits that Marc Gafni is here current boyfriend. Is seems she still hasn't learned about zen boyfriends. (Yeah, I know, Gafni is "rehabilitated," uh huh.) The 10 signs are still good though.
She gets the diseases right but seems oblivious to the cause, the metaphysical separation of spiritual from mundane. Despite all the sickness it appears she still believes there is a "true" spirituality free from "contaminants" beyond the disease. Whereas the true is the enemy of the good. Perhaps this is akin to her persisting belief in another chimera, "true love."
Hi Ed, Mariana just had Marc's baby a couple monthes ago :-)

Yes indeed, good stuff. Made me blush with some self-recognition. Oh, but all that is in the past . . . aarhg.

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
