After much extended consideration I changed the name of my blog from Integral Postmetaphysical Enaction to the above. (Former blog postings in this thread.) It will still be at the same link. I've decided to change the name largely due to no longer having much interest in integral theory. Still some, but not enough to justify it in the name. I'm still interested in postmetaphysics, but who the hell has heard of that outside a select few eggheads? I am much more interested in motivating myself and others into participating with progressive ideals and enacting those policies in all domains. Keeping the old blog name was more than a bit off putting for that broader agenda. I'll keep the old name as a subtitle for now for those familiar with and searching for it. But my intent is to get more people involved in the hope of actually changing things for the better instead of engaging in interesting but mostly armchair speculations.

I retained the word enaction for a few reasons. It relates to specific philosophical models of embodied cognition (and/or realism) in which I'm still interested and will continue to write about. It is a progressive evolution over previous models highlighting our participation with co-creating our realities. Note the prefix co, indicating that though we participate the Real grounds and delimits that participation. But that's still egghead. Mostly because the word means creating law, which to me is the most effective way for us to implement our values in society. Hence a lot of my focus is on motivating us to participate in changing or creating laws aligned with progressive ideals.

The blog will still be the same except that the name will more accurately reflect what I've been doing here for the past several months. I hope the current audience will continue to read. And I hope the new name will attract new readers who are motivated to join me in participating in progressive ideals and enacting laws and structures to express that agenda.

Here's the Senate roll call vote on the amendment to reverse Citizens United. Not one Republican voted for it, not one Democrat voted against it. Polls consistently show Americans are against what Citizens United created and favor an amendment overturning it. Remember this come the November election, who supports we the people or the big money that could give a shit about us. Bring this vote up time and again as a clear example of what your vote will directly support. If you're tired of oligarchy and want a return to democracy, this vote couldn't be any more indicative.

Interesting about Badiou's new role in GCAS.  I've just been corresponding with them about auditing a course.  I'm interested in what they're doing, but it seems it is still kind of a work in progress -- dates are wrong and information is missing on a number of the course description pages.

I like the term para-academics as indicative of the p2p knowledge generation inherent to the emerging Commons. I'm thinking prefixes like meta are old school in still adhering to the representation paradigm with its classical, abstract hierarchies based on naive set theory. The prefix para is much more conducive to a metaphysics of adjacency, given its meaning as prefix: at or to one side of, beside, side by side. Therefore and henceforth to hell with meta-theory; I'm calling it para-theory.

Joseph,

Please start a thread in either the Bulletin Board or Resources section of the forum for GCAS information. Also transfer the relevant existing posts in this thread to it and then delete them from this thread. This thread is specifically for posts to my blog by this name and responses to those posts. Thanks.

George Lakoff strategy call. See the link for a letter from George Lakoff and please pass the word.

I was going to move all the GCAS info from this thread to a new thread today but it appears Joseph (or someone) has deleted all those posts from this thread without storing them elsewhere. Too bad, as I wanted to preserve them and have a discussion on their information and classes.

The power of we the people. Robert Reich sums it up on this short video, what we the people have accomplished in the last year, and what further progress we can make. But only if we continue to get involved, speak up, demonstrate, petition etc. We are a powerful force that does make positive change. And we need to see that progress so as not to get discouraged and give up. Keep up the good fight Americans. We are, like our founding fathers and mothers, fighting for our very democracy.

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
