After receiving feedback from several of you regarding my decision to close IPS, I have decided to keep it open, but I do not want to continue here at Ning, since that will require a monthly subscription.  So, I have decided to move the forum to a location with free hosting.  (I was waiting on the Shift Movement website to open, as has been promised for awhile now, but there is still no indication when that will go online.)

So, the new site will be through SocialGo: http://integralpostmetaphysics.socialgo.com/

I am hoping at this new site to make a "fresh start," and to keep contributions on topic with the major themes of the forum, so I will be monitoring and moderating it more closely than I have been at Ning (since this always felt like a temporary home).

I believe the Ning site will be shut down on July 20th, so if you have any material here that you want to save, I recommend doing so before that date.

Best wishes,

B.

So are we staying here Balder? I think with the cheap version of $20 a year it would be worth not moving again. And you could eliminate a lot of the extras that aren't really needed for discussion, and get rid of a lot of the existing fluff and fuck-off superfluous to the forum.
I have really been torn about this, as should be apparent to everyone by now. I apologize for that. To be transparent: I thought a change of location would be good, because I have not been very satisfied with the Ning 'incarnation' of this site and wanted a fresh start. I thought that would be easier -- less awkward and less work -- than reorganizing and paring down the content here. But it IS disruptive to move, and $20 a year is certainly affordable. (I only recently learned about that cheaper -- Ning Mini -- option.)

I'm open to feedback from others here. I'll make the decision by this evening, at which time I'll submit the payment if we stay.

Given your feedback, Edward, I'll say I am inclined to stay. And if I do, I will ask people to put up with me -- and the changes here -- as things get sorted out over the next week or two. If we stay, we'll have storage and usage limits (and no video uploads [only embeds], no private groups, no chat feature), so I will have to go through and eliminate posts and other content that I (autocratically) determine to be non-contributive to the forum's purposes or themes.
I'll throw in a little input if you're going to be making a choice by this evening, but really I'm easy concerning this issue. I just want to point out that not much of a foundation has started at this site as of yet, and I really think the biggest disrupt to moving the group is going to come from not getting the word out properly to the members that currently reside here. Another point to take into consideration is the 150 max membership of a Ning mini site. That may never come into play, but it quite possibly could. If that were the case a change at that time could actually prove more disruptive.

SocialGo seems like a decent alternative with my only reservation coming from the narrow section for the text when making posts. Not really an issue. However it is always there as a backup if you do decide to stay, and at the very most you'll only be out twenty dollars. Big deal. :)
I like the 20 $ Option, but also a fresh start has its temptations. The narrow text block on Social Go looks rather unattractive, but maybe its a matter of habituation. Right now I have no access to the new site since it says "Account not approved yet". Not sure what that means. Troll alarm maybe? Hmmm Damn this Non-Access makes the new site look more attractive... Oh My I'm torn and prolly no big help at all :-(
Another thing, and I'm not sure if it's the same on SocialGo, is the deleting of posts. But, yeah, I agree with the narrow text box as being more of an habitual thing. I remember thinking the text box on this site looked too wide.

I don't think the account approval thing is only a SocialGo feature. I think this site offers the same thing.
So Bruce have you paid for IPS Ning as a Mini? I'm looking to see what happens to the Google ads and the ABOUT section in the right-hand column. Both disappeared on anewgaia.ning when Siona paid. I think in the Plus Plan, which we have there, no-ads is the default, not sure about the Mini Plan. But we still don't know why the ABOUT section is gone!

Things never stay the same. Wonder if I can think of a metaphor for that. Something about a river perhaps.... LOL!!

Love,
OM

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.

At the moment, this site is at full membership capacity and we are not admitting new members.  We are still getting new membership applications, however, so I am considering upgrading to the next level, which will allow for more members to join.  In the meantime, all discussions are open for viewing and we hope you will read and enjoy the content here.
