Check out this news story. Impossible? If true what are the implications? Comments from our science majors? From the article:

"Parke said there could be a cosmic shortcut through another dimension – physics theory is full of unseen dimensions – that allows the neutrinos to beat the speed of light. Indiana's Kostelecky theorizes that there are situations when the background is different in the universe, not perfectly symmetrical as Einstein says."

Joel was talking about this on Facebook yesterday, so maybe he can chime in here, if he has time.  He was commenting that Sorce Theory already predicted this result.  I'm not sure about -- but would be interested to learn -- what impact this would have on present descriptions of light as trans-temporal 'frame' for spacetime events.

Yes, Sorce Theory predicts and explains the variability in the so-called light speed "constant", and with its view that a neutrino isn't a particle at all, but a catch-all category for the smaller and smaller waves that don't fit the classical-particle accounting scheme at the heart of modern physics, it actually predicts that the neutrino will travel faster than c (which, again, is not a constant, but identical to the Mach number in fluid-dynamics, for the same reasons but at a deeper scale (again self-similarity in fluid dynamics substrates)).

So, in Sorce Theory a neutrino isn't a particle, and so it doesn't have any more mass than a "photon" which isn't a particle either. These are waves, and the smaller the wave the faster it will travel, simply because there is less material and distance to move in the waving. The effect is small but real.  And there has never been a light speed constant. It's an asymptote, and a function of frequency. Also note that the Lorentz and Mach curves and formulae are IDENTICAL. http://www.aethro-kinematics.com/Mach2.jpg

This is no coincidence. This is a matter of fluid dynamics. There is really so much data here to show this, not to mention the cohrence of the theory and its continued predictive success.

"Parke said there could be a cosmic shortcut through another dimension – physics theory is full of unseen dimensions – that allows the neutrinos to beat the speed of light.

Well that's just way too abstract.  Dimension is a black box in the post-modern limbo of the loss of causal foundations in the move from transitive (pre-rational and classical) to immanent (trans-rational and post-classical) forms of causation --- from singular trajectories into massive parallelism and complexity such as superfluid continuum dynamics.

Indiana's Kostelecky theorizes that there are situations when the background is different in the universe, not perfectly symmetrical as Einstein says."

But this is true, as far as it goes...which isn't very far.  :)

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
