The first reason for my posting this is to unpack whether anything in the subtle energy realm can help humanity solve the ' we fuel our civilization from black tar ' issue. An issue that seems completely bizarre to me and which, apparently, seems unresolvable even with the brightest minds within 100 years of ed. academies.

Secondly, we might want to know if Kenny's assessments are accurate. Here is a link to David Bohm:

http://www.vision.net.au/~apaterson/science/david_bohm.htm

My sense is that in no way was Bohm confusing the implicate order with god; and moreover, didn't find the implicate and explicate orders mutually exclusive; but rather, symbiotic. Philosophically, it seems to me that his ideas suggested a type of pan-interiorism wherein 'god' exists holographically within the whole structure of the cosmos.

And last but not least-- reincarnation: how do we contemplate a coherent theory around this idea?

Here is a very funny rational wiki page:

Having come to agreement with most of the points therein; I still wonder if it is an error to dissociate philosophy from empiricism. Is there no room for philosophy and imagination, or creative thinking within the scientific endeavour? Has secularism placed unnecessary constraints on knowledge and what can be known?

Pointing out an obvious truism: tens and thousands of years of woo-woo did not bring the earth to the brink of extinction; but 300 years of empiricism has. Is there a problem here Houston?

This link at least is aware of the problem:

Haha! Confounding circumbobulations! lol Friggin' thinking out loud is no fun at all. Ok, i can see religion without religion being a useful pragmatism; but spirituality without spirit is a much tougher nut to crack! So maybe I was right: to be an ultra-spiritulist is to move to no spirituality at all! A post-metaphysical non-dualism!

Still doesn't solve the black tar issue…..

" Hell is other people!" hehehe

Not empiricism but neoliberal capitalism, and only in the last 60 years per this article.

I think you and I are in complete agreement when it comes to economics:) I suspect there is even a causal link to income inequality and environmental degradation, too. I think I was pointing to flatland and a general view of the past 300 years compared to the previous 10,000. Certainly, I agree with Ken that modernity has its share of disaster.

Here is a very respected scientist positing a new theory of everything :

You can see from my previous rational wiki post that I am well aqauinted with woo-woo. But really, these ideas do seem to me to have more coherence than straight out reductionism i.e. Dennett and all ( whom I very much like). I do not know whether there is a paradigm change coming that will bring peace to the differing camps; but in the meantime, critical thinking with a convivial spirit is a more fruitful approach than hostile polemics, at least in my opinion. For me it's khora and god. For now though, the quest for meaning of ultimate reality needs to be put on the back burner while we sort out a solution to energy needs. In this regard I don't see it fruitful to demonize the apostles of the fossils; but we shouldn't let them do whatever they desire.

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
