New Divide by Linkin Park is a complete package for me, including the lyrics.
And another one by Linkin Park that hits home for me these days, Crawling.
Wow, yes, lots of energy. I hadn't heard this new stuff by them yet. I recently discovered a new group out of Australia that I'm enjoying: Charge Group.
And here's one I'm waiting for in a few weeks... (Quirky but cool, IMO).
I like Charge Group. The first has a haunting, plaintive Irish melody on the violin. The second has a frenzied kinetic energy that made me want to dance, so I was pleased when the dancers appeared in the video. Good dance choreography to the interesting and innovative changes in the song. It seems the music and dance got the guy out of his suicidal funk.
I was reading the Rolling Stone article on Hendrix being the number 1 guitarist of all time. It highlighted the song Little Wing as displaying Hendrix's virtuosity. I've heard the song probably hundreds of times but just the commercial version. So I found and heard for the fist time the extended, strictly instrumental version which is almost 7 minutes. Freakin' far out, man.
Yeah, good stuff. I don't think I'd heard that extended instrumental version before, either. We used to do a cover of that song, back in the day (before Sting did it), and I always have regretted never recording it.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was the only one with chops and temerity enough to attempt this song with any credibility. Still, not as good as the Master.
Hi Ed - I think the first Little Wing vid you linked to is actually misleading. I'm pretty sure it's SRV's studio version - check out the comments below it on youtube..
Also, there is almost identical the playing on this and the live version you linked to. Before I read the comments below the studio version, my first reaction was "this doesn't sound like Hendrix" so I think the cool photo of JH is misleading , they should have a pic of Stevie Ray!
FIW, here's what I'm listening to right now - 2 Swedish girls sounding like they're from Nashville. Gorgeous.
I find this live version even more touching.
I can't click the link now from work, but if those are the two Swedish girls who call themselves First Aid Kit and sing Americana, I think their stuff is great. I think I posted a couple of their videos on my Facebook page awhile back.
P.S. I clicked the link now -- yep, that's them. That's the same song I posted a few weeks ago on FB. Love it.
