de Certeau and the Phenomenology of Mysticism

I'm reading this article right now. I think de Certeau may have something to say re: post-metaphysical spirituality. Xibalba may have something to say about him, too.

Just started it so a couple of quick comments. I appreciate that for him mysticism is not an individual experience but a social practice. And the emphasis on desire not for an object but for the amorphous and mysterious unknown. I also agree that the epitome of the personal experience school of mysticism culminated with William James, who I said was the founder of the transpersonal movement in this thread.
