Thanks, Bruce - yes, I think we are appreciating some of the same themes.

Yes, David, we have arrived at a special time, and you're invited. At the moment, we've decided on the summer of 2044. She's excited, and her child will be grown and in her thirties so can give her away. If California still exists, we'll have a coastal wedding. My input is for the ceremony to be on surfboards off the warm water coast of big sur. My board could also serve as a funeral pyre. But seriously,
We decided that until we consecrate the union, we won't stay exclusive.

Put that in your calendar for early July, eh.

Yes, at least 90% kidding, Ambo. :)  It did remind me of a time a few months ago when I was accompanying my uncle as he went in to pay his bill, and we were 2nd in line, and I did become impatient when the two sales associates were both helping customers set up new accounts. It seemed to take forever, and they couldn't squeeze us in just to quickly pay a bill.

I'm actually also moved by your story and your sharing. And btw, let us know when you two love birds have set a date. :)

David, haha :)

Luckily, there were other sales people even around my prearranged appointment, so they could tend to new people. Even the manager stepped in as needed. Not much wait. I actually left for an hour while something needed to update, and another time for maybe 20 minutes. 'My gal' was able to multitask and help others; then I'd come back in when she finished with someone.

I know you were at least 90% kidding - I think :)

Btw, she and I decided to get married today, when I went back in this morning for a glitch with voicemail set-up.

I'm moved to hear this small story, Ambo.  Thanks.

And I was the guy in line behind you at the phone counter, tapping my foot impatiently, wondering if my turn would come, watching the clock! :)

This status comment was simply a small snippet of life activity that seems to say some small thing about me.

I was at a phone shop for a new phone. The woman was sort of ordinary looking, ordinarily attractive, though with an engaging interpersonal sale's manner. I suppose I also had a somewhat engaging manner, in tone and non-verbals with her. We overall were together for a couple of hours getting a new plan and syncing the iPhone with my computer.

At the end, it was slightly hard to say goodbye. It was a bit like growing a crush, falling in love, being in relationship for more than just a commercial transaction.

This happens not infrequently for me with the working strangers in stores and restaurants and it seems as though something like caring warm friendship often develops over time.

Regardless of our primary roles, it seems like win-win, social nourishment, a momentary lightening of the day and of life. We are talking men and women, usually with distinct flavors characteristic of each gender, and each individual, for my part. As with all things juicy, I imagine there are risks of misperception, misunderstanding, and unrealistic, unfulfillable expectation. Sometimes things go awry. Usually not.

Overall, this has been a pleasant surprise in the life of an old man.

I'm glad you asked.

Please explain further.

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
