Fricken W O W. This is the noir of perversion par excellence. Recall our thread on perversion. This is its agony and its ecstasy. It's much, much more than a taut mystery story. It's an expose of perversity that actually draws a line between better and worse expressions thereof. The family dynamic alone will make Freud and Jung have naughty, naughty S&M homosexual inebriation.
Rooney Mara is superb in the role of Lisbeth Salander, the seemingly perverse one by outward appearances. But its the apparent normal ones who are dark beneath their light veneer. (Notice how the director uses lighting in the film.) She gets a well deserved Golden Globe nomination for this performance and should win, but the nature of the story and part might be too risque to acknowledge. Highly recommended. Plenty to discuss here if you're so inclined.
What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?
This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
