I've been at the cinemas this weekend and was impressed by the Horror Movie "Splice" by Vincenco Natali.

It's a B-Movie Horror Flick about Genetic Experiments gone wrong. A Canadian-French Co-Production, it's pleasently free from Hollywood clichès and doesn't rely too heavily on blunt action. Instead, it intelligently explores the collective fears and misgivings around the topic of creating new genetically modified creatures. Especially in the second half of the film (where everything that can go wrong does go wrong) boundaries are crossed and new territory is explored. All the while toying with the questions of scientific ambition, human frailty, morals and ethics, and - well, the timeliness of psychoanalysis. It's an exploration of how we deal with other-ness.

Anybody seen it yet?  ^_^

I wanted to see it. Is it any good?
It was much better than I expected. I especially like how they came to adopt the creature as their child, since they didn't have any. And why and how this came to be, exploring their psychological history. And the way it brought in the Oedepis and Electra complexes in a surprising way. Not to mention the development of the creature, fascinating in itself. I don't want to say too much to spoil the well-developed plots and sub-plots but definitely recommend this one.
Hey, thanks for the heads up, Christophe.
I am always looking for a smart sci-fi exploration.
Cheers,

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
