Hey, everyone.

Me and a friend have discussed and explored an idea for a long time now, namely to create a way for modern people to live a monastic-like life. When I move to my own apartment in a couple of months, I'm going to start this new way of life, in which I will be able to focus most of my attention on what I found I love most about life, namely, life. (Or to be more exact: life from an integral perspective.)

So, we're trying to come up with ways in which to live like an "urban monk", and we really think this is something interesting and which we love pondering about.

Just a few days ago we finally moved moved from the mere talking and the thinking, to more of the doing and the tangible. So yeah, we made a blog/homepage in which we'll try to share our ideas, and our experiences as "urban monks" (or "urban-monks"-to-be), or whatever one wants to call it.

This is still extremely early work in progress, but it's a start. If you'd like, please "Like" our page here at Facebook and feel free to check out the blog/homepage from time to time:

What do you think about this idea? Interesting, crap, pointless, awesome, stupid, funny, abysmal? :)

This particular aspirant wears the nemyss headdress. I prefer the simple hood, which my robe has. The hood when worn encloses the vision, cocoons the self and is conducive to deep introspection. Oh, and the aura is extra, batteries not included.

Oh, so it's built into the robe? Damn it. I thought I finally were able to perceive them ol' auras. :(

I think this is interesting! I believe we need to create balance no matter where we are. The urban setting is no hindrance at all when you resolve to focus on a more meaningful existence! Keep it up!

We're right on the same page there!

Thanks for the encouragement, and welcome to the IPS forum!

I see you have set to work! I love the pictures here. We need to keep in touch with our inner selves despite the demands of the modern world.

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
