The source of this sort of material for me is my mother, who listens regularly to Coast to Coast.  I also regard most of this as "beyond the pale," and personally do not think the planet is about to shift into the 5th dimension, but I thought our old ghost, Kela, might enjoy this ... :-)

Also, while I don't share many of the metaphysical beliefs that inform New Age theology, I do think a number of the New Age teachers have had their finger on the pulse of the time we are in for a long while.  My mother, who immerses herself in this material and has also worked as a teacher and psychic herself, has been predicting worldwide turmoil (environmental, economic, political) around this time for about 20 years now.

Hello to all my friends... and to the rest of you, a hearty, "FU!" haha. I've recently been attempting to engage Truthers, the NWO folk, and other conspiratorial thinkers at other sites.... Man, the New Agers have nothing on these nut cases... though there is now something called "fusion paranoia" in which Right Wingers, Left Wingers, New Agers, Christian Millenarians, and UFO kooks are all weaving together the mother-of-all "theories of everything." .... Breathtaking in its scope. Anyway, I read a cool book recently on the psychology and sociology of conspiracy theories by Jonathon Kay called Among the Truthers. He's a Canadian journalist, who leans to the right and is rather obviously a bit of a defensive Jew (they always get it from conspiricists), but it's pretty good in its scope and has given me much food for thought. It also made me realize that I have been researching this kind of thing for the last 25 years, ie., the question: why do people believe in this kinda stuff? (My first paper at college was "Nazism and the Occult." haha.) .... As for the Truthers and NWO people, jeez... talk about "group think" and how you really cannot discuss this kinda stuff with them until you have had your "consciousness raised."... What really boggles my mind, though, is the belief in prophecy, viz., the idea that what some dude wrote 4000 years ago somehow-or-other applies to ME, YOU... US, right now in this very moment. To me, it's just so incredibly narcissistic to think that something so cosmic is going to happen IN MY OWN LIFETIME when we really are insignificant bundles of specks of star dust. The sense of self-importance boggles the mind. There may indeed be a timelessness to spiritual truths -- that what spiritual teachers wrote long ago can indeed apply to ME, YOU... US right now in this very moment. But "immanentizing" it -- historicizing it and politicizing it -- strikes me as not just wrong-headed and stupid, but nefarious to the point of dangerous. Or, maybe I'm just being paranoid...:-) Over and out.

And remember that ANYONE who talked about Dec 21, 2012, is gonna get BITCH SLAPPED come Dec 22.

Check out this Raw Story article -- Mayans Demand an End to 2012 Doomsday Myth

From the article:

“ 'We are speaking out against deceit, lies and twisting of the truth, and turning us into folklore-for-profit. They are not telling the truth about time cycles,' charged Felipe Gomez, leader of the Maya alliance Oxlaljuj Ajpop....

The Culture Ministry is hosting a massive event in Guatemala City — which as many as 90,000 people are expected to attend — just in case the world actually does end, while tour groups are promoting doomsday-themed getaways.

Maya leader Gomez urged the Tourism Institute to rethink the doomsday celebration, which he criticized as a 'show' that was disrespectful to Mayan culture..."

Interesting -- thanks for this, Mary.  Something tells me that the writers of Mayan prophecy books and the organizers of these sorts of doomsday events won't let a little thing like objections from the Mayans stop them from making the most of this...

With the Apocalypse less than 3 weeks away, I thought I'd post this link so you can get your Mystic Mayan Power Cloak before it's too late -- ;-)

Mystic Mayan Power Cloak, as of yet unseen on TV.

Is that Mr. Bean (not) wearing the mystic cloak?

LOL -- that does look like him! Also, looks like Jerry Lewis (nutty professor) is in one of the pics.

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
