My other question is in regards to the the term 'Integral'. Is integral an approach that subsumes 'spirit' as we understand it. Or can we place 'integral' as just one of a number of approaches to spirit? Does a broader concept of 'spirit' trump Integral in discussion, or, can 'Integral' stand as the fundamental term?

For example,  I have an understanding of 'spirit' as a creative force that seeks to manifest ever more fully over time and space. (same thing, I gather). The method of this ever greater manifestation is an ongoing self-reflexivity, - spirit folding back on the manifest to go forward in novelty. Awareness then is to activate the process of spirit in matter. In keeping with this I'm also rather attached to the tantric notion that all is grist to the mill and should be welcomed as such. And, finally, our own spirituality should accordingly be creative, but will necessarily fail. It is a higher level poise within the movement across creation, failure, new creation, failure that we aim for. A still point at the eye of this creative dynamic.

I have perhaps given more than necessary of my own conception of spirit but my point is to give some flesh to the question: Is this conception of spirit prior to Integral, or does it fit within a broader Integral conception that changes it significantly? Insert your own notion of what spirit is and answer that same question for me if you will. And, by all means contest my own notion of what spirit is, at the same time :)

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
