I subscribe to Swami Beyondananda's blog. His latest blog post is on this. I admire his hope for transpartisanship but I just don't see it the way he does.
Here's a link to the full documentary. Quite a smogasbord of themes, not all equally credible (to me), but worth a watch anyway.
Agreed. It's actually Cthulhu who is affecting us through telepathy from the ocean depths.
I agree that the universe must be filled with life. It seems more unbelievable and outrageous to me to posit the opposite, that we are some isolated, unique occurrence. I'm not convinced that our particular planet is being visited, or has been visited, by extraterrestrial entities, but a lot of the testimony I heard while working on the Disclosure Project was certainly thought-provoking and (at times) compelling. Regarding Icke, I think his suspicions regarding the concentration of money and power in the hands of very few are (very generally) grounded in facts; it's his ideas about the Reptilians or Anunnaki that I find unbelievable.
Yes, I'm both interested in it and fascinated by it. It seems to include an interesting amalgam of perspectives, both from some credible folks (like Sahtouris, or even Haramein) and less-than-credible folks (like Icke). Like the Zeitgeist series, it also seems to include a good dose of myth or urban legend. I do think there is truth behind some of the various big myths of the age -- the Illuminati, UFOs, repressed or hidden super-technology -- but there is a lot of tall-tale-age to sift through. As I may have told you, I was a transcriptionist for the Disclosure Project, so I actually have been able to listen to many, many hours of really interesting testimony from folks who have experience with these related themes (primarily encounters with UFOs, secret technologies, clandestine government agencies and facilities, etc), and so I don't write all of this off as nonsense or fantasy. Steven Greer, the head of the Disclosure Project, has talked for years about repressed technologies related to energy production. Interesting stuff -- even if much of it is inflated wishful thinking, it represents for me at least a creative stirring of cultural imagination, a collective invoking of new vision, new possible ways of being. If you haven't heard of it yet, the Thrive movie is associated with a larger movement, which you can check out here. More mainstream, if still cutting edge, steps towards a new economy and culture are being taken by Germany, working with Jeremy Rifkin among others. This is encouraging enough for me, without having to appeal to the promise of extraterrestrial technologies...
