Speaking of the Avengers see:  http://marvel-movies.wikia.com/wiki/Tesseract

All of these superheroes are after or involved with some form or another of what has gone throughout history by many names:  lapis philosophorum, Philosopher's Stone, Holy Grail, the Stone of the Wise, etc..

AQAL-Man and Meldara are specifically involved in this pursuit as well.  :-)

I imagine AQAL Man and Meldara as having a friendly, edgy rivalry, engaging in friendly sparring and shadow-triggering for one another but ultimately serving on the same "team," such as you see among the members of the Avengers.

All of the Apollonian/Athenian superheroes are after the lapis philosophorumin some form or another either to restore balance to something that has become unbalanced, or to achieve some goal or task of ultimate meaning for the benefit of humankind, etc..

AQAL-Man, MELDARA (or Buddha, Christ, or Krishna) would be no different and so their conflicts with each other would be more competitive (competing visions of ultimate meaning or balance, competing means, etc..)  As such, they're not really villains to each other, but are potential allies.

Cthulhu and other Chthonic entities, on the other hand, represent Alterity itself - something that cannot be reasoned with or "defeated" in any of the usual ways.

Bhaskar's comparable acronym is MELDARA.  That's a superheroine name if I ever heard one.

Chhulhu as the repressed unconscious does the devouring, I mean integrating, here.

As a Chthonic creature, Cthulhu just might be the perfect dark & Dionysian counterpoint to AQAL-Man's Apollonian characteristics.   In this case the conflict would require AQAL-Man to Integrate Cthulhu.   Another kind of arch-nemesis would be one in which the adversary was in a position to integrate AQAL-Man instead! In that case, AQAL-Man will have met his match!

To be a true superhero, he needs an arch-nemesis.

Any proposals?

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
