This morning I came across the proceedings of a recent Edge Foundation conference on the sociobiological study of morality. Since morality is usually associated with the Spiritual/Religious dyad and not so much with biology, I thought y'all in this spiritual venue might be interested to see what these infidels were up to. (I have sampled a number of presentations but have not gone into the whole thing.)

Additionally I wanted to see what was said at The Edge meetings compared to what the Integralites were saying at their recent get together. All I could find however was that the Edge folks used "morality" and the Integralites used "ethics," two not always synonymous words for pretty much the same kind of thing. There was of course no transcript available for the panel on Development and Ethics and Roger Walsh's presentation on the Ethics of Integral Living was not among those published on the site. Too bad.

P.S. I thought it was interesting that the Edge conference featured a presentation by Marc D. Hauser, the researcher that Harvard U. just found guilty of misconduct in data reporting and storage, etc.

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
