After many months, I finally had the time to make music again!  Here is my (musical) offering for Independence Day 2013.  Enjoy.

Are you playing the other instruments? Or is it a program? And it seems you are splicing different flute riffs into the piece?

Hi, yes, I have about three different tracks of flutes overlapping at different places.  The rest of the music is built out of various samples of drones and rhythms, mostly, for a total of 16 tracks.

I feel there are parts of the composition that are a little "off," esp. in terms of the flow of the different sections, but I haven't figured out yet how to fix it.  (I don't have any training in writing music so it's all intuitive and trial and error for me...)

Could one write into the program say a guitar rhythm and chord progression? And a guitar solo? I ask because I have a lot of old songs but I haven't played guitar in so many years that my fingers can no longer play. I'd like to be able to program something like that.

Yes, you can.  You can lay down a track and then just loop it.  (The mixing program I use is called Magix.)

Have you heard of StageLight? It's only $10 and getting some good reviews.

I've heard of it but don't know anything about it.  Looking at the website, though, I think it looks definitely good enough to start with.

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
