This afternoon marked the end of my summer quarter, when I turned in the last of my grades.  To celebrate, I wrote a song.  My son chose the title.  Tell me what you think...

Bruce, this is lovely, both the music and the images. At first I was thinking Arvo Part-like  but then the flute came in and gave it a beautiful Celtic feel. Your son chose an excellent title. Thank you for this morning gift.
You're welcome, Nicole.  I'll tell my son you like his title.  He doesn't know yet that I made a video for the song or that I dedicated it to him, but I'll show him this afternoon.
:)  nicely done.
Thank you, Jim.  :-)  I really enjoy your music, so I'm always honored when you stop by to listen.

For fun, I made a gamelan composition yesterday evening.  I found a great program which lets you compose with the different instruments, and then I put a few additional thematic touches on it to match the style (ambient nature sounds, synth, etc) of my recent flute songs.

These are delightful, Bruce. Thank you.
Thank you, Mary!

I've made a downloadable digital album of my flute songs, which I've posted on Bandcamp.

Cloud of Dreams, by Blue Suling

The album is available for a name-your-price fee, but feel free to enter $0 for a complimentary copy...

Thank you, Bruce -- just downloaded a copy! Cheers!

Thank you, Mary!  Next time around, I'll invest in some proper equipment, which will definitely improve the sound quality.  [A confession: I recorded the flute on a tiny hand-held digital recorder, much better suited for recording one's grocery list or dictation notes than music!]

very nice, Bruce... some great world sounds you've created. it's nice to hear your flute voice being expressed.  i think that's why we're all here, to create.  a good way to balance out the hemispheres into a "whole".  btw i think you're ready to move up a level and record into some decent software on your computer, say like Reaper, which is inexpensive and would make your songs come to life!

Thank you, Jim -- and thank you for the recommendation.  I have been using Magix, a relatively cheap desktop mixing program, to mix the songs, but Reaper looks like it has greater versatility.  I also need to get a microphone, instead of using that handheld digital recorder.  Perhaps this Christmas I'll splurge and get that for myself.  (I'll use the generous donations for my album, from you and others, towards that end!)

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
