Bio

Mark Schmanko has a graduate degree from Harvard Divinity School and is currently a doctoral student at Rice University in the Religious Studies Department, working with historian of religion, Jeff Kripal. Mark is fascinated by the existential, historical and philosophical study of religion in light of the human condition and all things deemed sacred in the embodied religious imagination. He is currently pursuing research on the nature and implications of spiritual and religious identity formation, as well as the theory and practice of religion in the contemporary (post)secular American landscape.

Namaste, Mark-ji!  Welcome.  Nice to see you here...

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
