I recently heard about this (local, California; open source; trans-tradition) "conscious dance" community that sounds pretty interesting:  Connexus Dance.

It reminds me of Embodydance in Santa Fe. I could never get into this free-form New Agey sort of thing, preferring more structured dance that still allows for plenty of improv and creativity.

I thought it sounded interesting because, among other things, it intentionally includes structured dances -- though it does still seem to force improvisation by having people who practice one form learn how to interface that with someone who practices another form.  But I also shared it because of the values they express for their community (which sound to me like healthy Green at least, or maybe Teal).

I appreciated the philosophical musings about fusion dance. And I actually engage in fusing some of the dances I do, depending on the partner and how the music moves us. Like I mix west coast swing with some samba basics if it's that type of beat. Same with west coast and tango,* or nightclub and rumba, or foxtrot and nightclub.

* That particular mix has been popularized as swango, and an off-Broadway musical was based on it. Here's a video of clips from the musical. Some of the dances are one style or the other,  and some of the dances are the fusion.

What paths lie ahead for religion and spirituality in the 21st Century? How might the insights of modernity and post-modernity impact and inform humanity's ancient wisdom traditions? How are we to enact, together, new spiritual visions – independently, or within our respective traditions – that can respond adequately to the challenges of our times?

This group is for anyone interested in exploring these questions and tracing out the horizons of an integral post-metaphysical spirituality.
